Yes, we’ve “got golf”!

Carlowden Country Club is a premiere 18-hole golf course that is both scenic
and challenging.  It is set on a hillside overlooking the expansive Black River Valley.  Originally started, in 1925, as a 9-hole course, it is now an 18-hole course.  The addition of the “new nine” in 1991 has since matured and blended with the old to present itself as “the best-kept secret in the North Country”.

Each hole is unique and no two are remotely the same.  There are bunkers, water hazards, and an abundance of hills and mounds that excite the senses.  The skilled player will appreciate the strategic placement of these obstacles and will enjoy the challenge.  The less-skilled player will enjoy the friendly tee options and the pleasure of skirting the danger areas.  The greens are tricky and quick making putting a learning experience.

Carlowden is a family place and we boast of our strong junior members and our numerous husband and wife & family memberships. Friday co-ed leagues for couples is very popular.

Play at Carlowden is usually so open that tee times are not necessary.  However, it is a good idea for first-timers to call the pro shop.  The pro shop is just one of the amenities available at Carlowden.  We stock all the necessary items along with the skill to match the player with the proper equipment.  The restaurant is run with the golfer in mind.  It is easy to grab a light meal at the turn or have a deserved sit-down feast and beverages at the end of a round.  Family or private dinners are also well accommodated.

Sustaining membership has its privileges.  Although rental golf carts are available, the sustaining member may choose to own and house his or her own cart at Carlowden.  Locker room and shower facilities for men and women are available.

Last, but not least, the club’s atmosphere is most “user-friendly”.  Individual contributions of time and talent have gone a long way in developing this golf course.  There is a strong sense of ownership and pride in Carlowden.
